JOYCE BELL

Artist Biography

Joyce was born in Viking, Alberta and graduated from the Viking High School in 1964. She attended Marvel College and U of A in Edmonton, finishing her Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary before starting her teaching career at the Drumheller Composite High School in 1971.

Joyce’s creative interests started with a career as a Hair Stylist, but she has had lifelong interests in design, fashion, form, color and decorating. She started painting in pastels in the 70’s and was inspired by Gerta Christofferson’s work. She was introduced to water color techniques by David Butt, a Canadian artist with whom she has taken lessons and direction for the past nine years. Her work reflects her travels and winter home in Arizona.

Joyce has been a member of the the Badlands Artist Association for several years.
