Artist Biography
Carrie Layne Mashon was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and moved to the prairies after she was married. It wasn’t until long after she was married that she found that she really enjoyed painting. She has also been an amateur photographer for over 33 years. Often she uses her photographs for reference for her paintings. She loves painting animals, still life, birds and likes dabbling a bit in “altered art”.
Also a new venture is scratch art which she finds fascinating and challenging.
She has studied with some of the top 40 painters of North America, one such being Derek Wicks. (2011 Canadian Ducks Unlimited Wildlife Artist of the Year ) She loves birds and can’t seem to get enough photographs of them.

“I love painting…simple as that. I have no formal training and it doesn’t matter to me. I love making pictures of my grandkids and all the natural beauty that surrounds me in the Badlands of Alberta.”
